Blowering Dam, just 15 minutes from Tumut, NSW, is regarded as one of the top destinations in the country to target giant Murray Cod—especially on fly.
Jimmy has spent more time fly fishing on this impoundment than anyone else, logging countless hours, night after night, in pursuit of truly giant fish. That time and dedication has led to hard-earned consistency on a fishery known for its challenge.
Our custom-built vessel, “In Cod We Trust,” is purpose-designed for impoundment cod fishing. Outfitted with a premium layout and Garmin Marine electronics, it’s the ideal platform for targeting these giants.
Fly fishing for Murray Cod here is technical, challenging, and incredibly rewarding. We’re using 10wt rods, oversized flies, and looking to deliver long, accurate casts in low light—conditions where these fish feed.

Split-Day Fly Fishing for Murray Cod
You can now book single-day fly or lure fishing sessions, split across one afternoon and the following morning—targeting two prime low-light windows in a single trip.
Session 1 (Afternoon/Dusk):
Familiarisation with boat, gear, and casting technique using 10wt rods and large flies. We focus on building confidence and accuracy with long presentations.
Session 2 (Morning/Dawn):
Return to water identified the evening before and fish during the best conditions for feeding cod.
Best suited for experienced fly anglers (though 2 anglers can be accommodated). Two-day trips remain the most productive format, but this is a strong alternative for time-poor anglers.
Pricing:
Full Day (Split Session): $1,100 inc. GST – 1 or 2 anglers
Recommended: 2-day trips for best results
Evening Lure Fishing Sessions
We now offer evening lure trips for anglers chasing big cod in the best hours of the day—without the commitment of a full-day trip.
Trip Time: 4 PM – 10 PM
Pricing:
$700 inc. GST (single angler)
$750 inc. GST (two anglers)
Includes:
All rods, reels, and tackle
Snacks and cold drinks (no dinner provided)
These sessions are ideal for travellers, locals finishing work, or anyone looking to cast for a cod in that golden last light. We’ll cover productive zones, casting to shallow feeding fish as they begin to move.
