SNOWY VALLEYS FLY FISHING & JIMMY BARWICK

LISTEN

“On this episode, we are proud to present for a second time, Jimmy Barwick. Jimmy, has just gone out on his own with his new guiding outfit Snowy Valley Fly Fishing. On the show, Jimmy briefly talks about the events that led up to this new chapter in his life, and shortly after we talk about what SVFF offers its clients, we get into talking about the fishing. For a big part of the show we are talking about the huge Cod Jimmy is catching... 25 over a meter this year ( that doesn't count the ones under a meter)  !! We talk about the flies, the lines and tackle the big issue about live scoping. Live scoping is a hugely polarising issue in still water, and we chuck out hat in the ring regarding this debate. We then go onto to talk about the drift boating that Jimmy does on the Tumut River, and what's involved with that. Jimmy offers a well rounded operation that caters for both Natives and Trout.. Be sure to listen in and also go back and have a listen to the first one with Jimmy Episode 150.”

“As we hit the centaury and a half episode, it brings us great joy to present Jimmy Barwick to the Intermediate Line listeners. Jimmy is originally a Tasmanian who has sought out bigger things than Boags and Potato Cakes. Jimmy is a ticketed captain who has spent time on Superyachts, Game Boats, Flats Skiffs and now Drift Boats. We get to know the man behind the nice guy persona and we learn what drives Jimmy to continue to put his punters onto great fish.”

The story of Jimmy Barwick is next level! This is an epic chat as we learn who Jimmy is and the crazy adventure he has been on over the past two decades. He has travelled a fair portion of the world, lived overseas working and spent a massive part of his life living on the water.

Currently working as a fly guide on the Tumut River in NSW, and also working in retail. He has seen and done it all, and in the first half of this episode we get an insight into his amazing life journey.

The second half of this episode Jimmy shares his last 12 months of chasing Murray Cod. Having never chased them ever before, to learning about this incredibly intelligent species, to catching his first (and now multiple) metre Murray Cod on the fly. We discuss techniques and approach for using the fly, and lessons Jimmy has learnt along the way. This is a big episode and one you’ll want to listen to.
